Passion and love. Passion for "things" or "experiences" that involve the external world are inevitably unstable. It is in the effort and work of trying to sustain, repeat and maintain such "passions" that we create suffering of the self and perhaps even foster greed or jealousy of others. What is suggested is that make commitments to discipline our choices and even our desires. Take a moment to reflect on a physical passion or desire - it is inevitable that such a pursuit also includes suffering. We suffer over the absence of it - we suffer over ideas of self worth when we cannot attain it - we suffer our own stories as to why it is not constant or consistent or at the level we desire. These sufferings distract us from our capacity of joy and generosity - we become "separate" - and lost. It is not at all about repression - it is about making a new choice - to reflect upon our divine unity with all things - to not indulge for the sake of experience - rather to choose to express because it is in alignment with love, kindness and generosity.
